Here are some helpful tips to enjoy school:

  • Attend school on a regular basis. It is vital that you attend school every day. Each day of learning may build upon the next, and missing classes causes you to fall behind and add more work to your workload. Of course there may be instances when you need to miss school, such as for an illness, but try to be there as much as possible.
  • Be prepared. Too many students arrive to school unprepared. Each night, pack your school bag, a lunch (or money if you buy it at school), prepare your outfit, and go to bed at a decent time.
  • Get enough rest. As already mentioned, try to go to bed at a decent hour. By ‘decent’ I mean any hour that will not leave you tired the next morning when you need to get up early.
  • Eat a healthy breakfast. Having a doughnut or skipping breakfast altogether are not healthy options when you need energy to get you through the first few hours of school before lunchtime.
  • Take classes that interest you, and make all others work for you. You may not be able to choose your core classes, i.e. English, math, or science, but you will be able to choose your electives. Electives may include Home Economics, Music, Foreign Languages, Photography, etc. Choose the classes that interest you or you think may be helpful to you when deciding on a career.
  • Participate in class. A sure way to remain bored in class is to sit at your desk and stare at the desk as the teacher presents a lesson. Want to make it interesting and make time fly by? Participate! Sure, most students think participating in class is only raising your hand to answer a question, but there’s so much more you can do
